A Revised Book Cover and Holiday Gratitude

Pilgrimage 057

My daughter is reading Children of the River in her English class and was asked to design a book cover.  I was astounded by what she created, including the flag image of Angkor Wat (the largest spiritual complex on Earth) and an incredibly detailed map of the country.  It was her idea to have the main character’s tears form the river through Cambodia.

Now a note of some holiday gratitude for a place I have benefited from in many ways over the decade I have lived on Whidbey Island. 2013 has been a bit less financially stressful for my family, but my quality of life has been improved by both volunteering and being a client at my community’s model food bank.  They could use a helping hand with a sudden jump in need – feeding a record number last month (1012 south island families).

So I would like to ask for anyone who wishes to give me a birthday, Solstice or Christmas gift this month to make a donation to Good Cheer in my name.  May we all be gifted the dignity and hand up that Good Cheer provides when we need it most.
