Thanks to generous small and large donations from our community and beyond, the 18 members of the SWHS Jazz Band will be able to travel to Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival this week. Chaperoning allows my first air travel in a decade and I am thrilled to support and enjoy these fabulous young musicians.

I have worked every single day in March except Easter in order to afford four days off work. Workin’ with a purpose feels better than workin’ without a purpose. Though I’d rather work with a porpoise. But I digress.
When I listen eyes closed, it’s hard to believe there are only 18 of them (30+ instrument multi-tasking) and that they are in high school. To listen in on their brilliant performance last week: CLICK
Or visit my site’s update, which also links the fabulous 2001 Ken Burns documentary JAZZ, airing on my local station this month (talk about an education in American history!): Jazz Hats
And now a few more sharings from my favorite young musicians to follow in social media.
Even though I don’t like faking anything, this is pretty good.
